As a professional high-quality eyeglass manufacturer based in Shenzhen, China, we have been focusing on producing and exporting premium eyeglass frames for global clients. With years of experience in the eyeglass production industry, we always adhere to strict quality standards and provide transparent cooperation terms for our partners. Today, we would like to address a common question from our clients: why do eyeglass frames of the same style and structure have slightly different unit prices for different colors?

First of all, it is important to note that as an eyeglass frame manufacturer, we have a minimum order quantity (MOQ) requirement for each style of eyeglass frames—usually 300 pieces per style, with an option of 3 different colors. This MOQ is set to ensure production efficiency, reduce production costs, and maintain the high quality of our products, which is also a common industry practice for professional eyewear manufacturers. Many clients are confused: since the frames are of the same style and structure, why does the unit price vary by color? The core reason lies in two key factors: differences in procurement costs (including outsourced processing cost) and production loss rates.

On the one hand, the procurement cost of raw materials for different colors is quite different. For example, in the electroplating process, some colors (such as rose gold, gunmetal, and other special electroplating colors) require more complex processes and higher-quality electroplating materials, which directly leads to higher electroplating costs.

For plastic or acetate eyewear frames, the cost of acetate materials also varies by color—some special colors or matte finishes require customized raw materials, which are more expensive than conventional colors.

On the other hand, the production loss rate also differs when producing different color frames. During the production process, some colors are more prone to defects such as color unevenness, scratches, or color fading, which increases the loss rate of raw materials and production time. For example, light-colored frames are more likely to show dust or small scratches during processing, while dark-colored frames may have higher requirements for color consistency, leading to more rejects during quality inspection. These additional losses will be reflected in the unit price of the frames.

We understand that this slight price difference may affect our clients’ pricing strategy for end sales. If you want to avoid this situation and maintain a unified sales price for the same style of eyeglass frames, there is a practical solution: both the factory and the client can adopt a compromise price. This compromise price is calculated based on the average cost of different colors, which can effectively balance the cost difference and ensure that the client’s sales price remains consistent, while also ensuring the factory’s reasonable profit margin.

As a Shenzhen eyewear factory specializing in high-quality eyewear production and export, we always prioritize transparency and mutual benefit in cooperation. We will clearly inform our clients of the cost composition of different color frames in advance, and work with clients to find the most suitable cooperation plan. Whether you are a brand, wholesaler, or retailer from overseas, we can provide customized production services according to your needs, with reliable quality, competitive prices, and professional after-sales support.
